A Brooklyn Stray Named Fang Needs A Home

I was on Facebook when I noticed that one of my friends had joined a Facebook group called "You can has kitteh." I checked it out and discovered that a kind woman named Barbara and her four neighbors were trying to find homes for a band of homeless kitties that live outside of their Brooklyn building.

Anyway, I got in touch with Barbara, and she informed me that they are still trying to find a home for one of the cats. His name is Fang (he is pictured to the left with her neighbor Sarah), and she describes him as "a big, cuddly black bear of a cat who loves to be held and have his belly rubbed. When you hold him, he sticks his tongue out a little and starts kneading softly with his gigantic—but friendly—claws."

Fang is one of five cats and kittens who started hanging around Barbara's building a couple of months ago. Barbara and her neighbors found homes for three of the felines, but, sadly, one of the kittens was hit by a car last night. So they want to get Fang off the street and into a home as soon as possible so nothing happens to him.

Fang doesn't know this yet, but he is going to the vet on Saturday, November 1 to get neutered. He will also get all of his shots and flea and worm treatments, so whoever adopts Fang is getting a healthy cat who won't be fathering any kittens.

Barbara and her fellow rescuers have found someone who might be interested in taking Fang after December 6. But if you want Fang and would like to adopt him immediately, he could be yours. If you can't keep Fang but would like to foster him until December 6, that's an option, too.

Interested? How could you not be? Fang looks like a great guy, and he really needs help.

For more information, you can email Barbara at barbara.o@gmail.com or join the Facebook group "You can has kitteh."

Also, Barbara wants everyone to know that Fang's eyes don't actually glow in the dark like they appear to in the picture accompanying this post—it was the flash!

Update: Fang has found a home!

On behalf of all the tenants in our building who have worked to find homes for these cats, I want to pass on a huge thank you for this post! And I have good news -- Fang has a home, thanks in no small part to your wonderful telling of our/Fang's story here. You told the story so well, we were able to get the word out even more and find a good home for Fang.

Thank you!!
