Breaking News (updated 2/14/09): In this item, which I wrote in December, I bemoan the fact that the clip of Kristen Wiig playing the crazy cat lady on Saturday Night Live isn't available on NBC.com. One of my comedic idols, Kristen Wiig, played a crazy cat lady on Saturday Night Live last night. Did you see the sketch? Kristen was cast as a woman who dictates her family's annual Christmas letter to her husband (played by Hugh Laurie) so he can type it up. The letter is written in the voice of their late cat, and her hubby is weirded out by the whole thing.
It was a priceless sketch and offered more proof that Kristen is destined to play me in the inevitable Cat Sitter in the City film. I would do it, but I am not a professional performer (my only experience is pretending to an extra for Lipstick Jungle), and I don't think I could portray myself convincingly.
I have yet to find the clip of Kristen as the crazy cat lady on NBC.com or YouTube.com, but if I do see it, I'll add it to this post.
Update made on 12/16/08: A lot of you have visited Cat Sitter in the City in search of the aforementioned Kristen Wiig crazy cat lady video clip. I just contacted a representative for Saturday Night Live to see if the crazy cat lady video will be made available through NBC.com. Unfortunately, he informed me that NBC can only post a limited number of videos on its site, and this funny clip didn't make the cut. I know a lot of you will be disappointed. I am disappointed, too!
I don't know if this will work, but if you want to ask NBC to make the clip public, click on Comments below and enter your request. If I compile a decent number, I will forward them to NBC.
Another update made on 12/24/08: Wow! Hundreds of you have visited Cat Sitter in the City in search of the aforementioned Kristen Wiig crazy cat lady video clip! I am so sorry I can't provide it. But as I note above, NBC has not made it available.
Cat Sitter in the City declares Saturday Night Live the most cat-friendly show on television.

Dear NBC,
Please make the video clip of Kristen Wiig playing the crazy cat lady available on your web site. It's the one where she dictates a Christmas card in her dead cat's voice to her husband played by Hugh Laurie. It's very popular among my group of friends and given Kristen Wiig's popularity I am sure it would get a lot of clicks.

I too have been searching and searching online to find this skit. A group of us were out last night -- the skit came up -- I tried to find it on my iPhone, but no go. Then looked again via Google -- to no avail. Then I saw your site -- and now I'll stop looking for it. Yeah, please ask SNL to post it! Thanks.

That doesn't even make sense. NBC owns the content, and they DON'T want to make money on it by making it available on their web site?
Is it any wonder people have to resort to "illegal" means to share content, like using bit torrent?
I would be glad to pay a small fee to download clips like this that I love. I wish SNL would make all of the sketches available on NBC.com. I have had hundreds of people visiting my site in search of this particular one.
